‌The Blind Animal existed only momentarily. During the event of the experiment, the participants, or “the cells” blindfolded and tied together by the ankles, became the blind creature, who had to learn to move, and communicate with its own cells to solve problems.

The blind animal exercise lasted only about an hour, which is not enough time for each participants to create the group experience. Instead it was more of an self examination in the group. Tampering with the idea of what consist of “I” from the rest, and the boundaries between them. The project hoped to break the psychological boundaries by stretching the physical one.

‌Before blindfolding, two exercises were asked for warm up.
- Vocal exercise; be in a comfortable position, make a noise and feel where in your body the sound is coming from.
- Jelly fish game; stand in a circle and lean in to hold each other in position.

‌When we talk about an event, we must consider who is talking. The storyteller’s gender, race, class, their life and perception in this world will change the reflection of the event. In this case, the story is being told from me, the facilitator, and I did not experience in first hand; the short life of the blind animal. I was standing outside the circle, except the Jellyfish exercise, reading the prepared lists of the tasks. Individual interviews were made in one on one sessions later.
‌

‌Blindfolded and tied to the person next by the ankle, the animal had to complete three tasks.
- Look for chalks and make hand prints on the paper (taped on the floor).
- Find 9 stones, make a circle.
- Find a broom and four bricks, using the bricks, make the broom stand.

‌(all items were placed around the group after they were blindfolded.)

‌In the collective memory or history what is often left out is the voices of who is not “common”, but commonality is not the reality.

‌Some ‌talked about the enjoyment of being in an alien situation that is having to depend on others instead of being able to depend on yourself.
Some experienced security of having the same handicaps as everyone, feeling to be on the same boat and unified.
‌Some described the over powering apprehensiveness.
‌Some felt tired, and uncomfortable.
‌Some were reminded of team building exercises.
‌One thought it forgot its own existence as an individual for a moment.
